Buuhs and Fows

or Bugs and Flowers.

I have recently started letting MD play in the yard in front of our house without me outside with him (Big step for me) I open all the windows and check on him every couple of minutes to make sure he stays in the front of our house and doesn't wander off. For the most part he is pretty good about it and it has made my days run more smoothly and he is so much happier with this small amount of freedom he has gained. He loves the choice to come inside or to stay outside. He eats his snack outside and has discovered all the wonderful joys of nature. He has started picking me flowers. He brings them to me with a big smile of his face and says "Fows!!" I take them and tell him "Their Gorgeous!" and put them in a cup on our table. When he realized I was keeping the "Fows" he got really excited and started bringing me everything he could pick. Beautiful beautiful flowers :) On sunday we noticed he was swatting something on the carpet. It looked like fuzz to me so I ignored him. about 15 minutes later my sisters fiance pointed out that he had been following a bee around swatting at it until he finally killed it :) Sounds good to me-I'll send him after the next nasty bug that crosses my path :) Since then everytime he sees anything crawling he shouts excitedly "uh Buuh! uh buuh!!!" and then promptly tries to squish it. Several times he has brought me to see the bug before he stomps on it. I may have been over zealous when it came to me purging my house of these unwanted quests since MD thinks that is the only thing we do with bugs-except Ants. Ants get alot more respect from him. He stands by their piles and yells "an!" but he wont touch them-Texas ants are vicious.

And as I was going through my photos I ran across this one we took on monday. This kid loves his daddy and wants to follow him anywhere-even to take out the trash in a rainstorm :)

His half way between walking and crawling crawl.
Yeah, not sure why I ever try to take pics with the kids- they never look at the camera.
I love this little guy

Updates

Wow I have been such a slacker lately when it comes to Blogging and there is so much that is going on! Here is a quick update

Michael: School School School! Wow he has been knee deep in homework and tests which has left him with not as much time for relaxing lately. He has managed to maintain a 4.0 and is really one of the top students in ALL of his classes. And even though he is so busy with school he always helps me and on the weekends he completely takes over so I can get a break. Recently he came with me to chaperone a Youth Stake Dance and I Loved dancing with him! This guy is an awesome swing Dancer!

Me: The Last couple of weeks I have been trying to live a healthier life style-LOTS more fruits and veggies, not alot of meat and dairy and little to no sugar and Junk food! Also I have upped my exercising to help me get into better shape. I am not out to lose alot of weight- More like be healthier and I have already noticed a HUGE change. I have so much more energy- My moods have evened out even more and I have more patience as a mom and wife. I am happier and more energetic and in consequence I have lost a couple of pounds. I have essentially adopted the Eat to Live lifestyle with some minor changes. I have realized that I like the FEELING of health much more then I enjoy the taste of my comfort foods, though I have some pretty severe cravings I havent worked through.

MD: Still working on being potty trained. He has realized that if he tells us he has pooped ("I poo!!") we will get him out of bed and check-most of the time he is clean but when he DOES actually poop he tries to take off his own diaper because he doesn't like the feeling. He also likes to SIT on the toilet but still hasn't used it regularly to actually GO to the bathroom. Also MD's vocabulary seems to be increasing so much quicker then I expected lately- He actually communicates with me and sometimes even says sentences. So far my favorite has been "Hi-yah's sa CAAZEEEE!" (Hyrum is crazy) He LOVES to sing and recently has started counting. He can count to ten with only missing a couple of numbers here and there, mostly the hard ones he can't pronounce like seven. He makes us laugh all the time and is a good big brother when he wants to be-pretty much depends on his mood. When he is happy he gives lots of hugs and kisses but when he is mad at Michael or I he pushes, hits and yells. Good motivation to stay in a good mood myself since usually his moods mirror my own.

Hyrum: This little red head is walking! It makes me a little sad-like he is declaring his independence from me. He really has become his own little person much quicker then MD did- probably because he wants to be like MD in every way. He plays with whatever MD has and his attitude mirrors MD's so again more motivation for ME to be in a good mood. He loves snugly things and is always trying to crawl into MD's bed and hug on his stuffed animals. Michael and I have decided that for Hyrums first birthday he gets a big stuffed animal. I am missing having a baby baby, but am LOVING having Hyrum at this stage. He is such a sweet little guy and LOVES life. He is much more adventurous then MD and is always trying new things. He will try to eat anything and I am constantly taking things from him that his older brother has snuck him-like carrots that Hyrum can't chew.

And a thought
I have been thinking alot about how grateful I am for the way I was raised-especially in todays world. I am grateful that I learned to appreciate what have and be content with it. I am SO grateful for good parents who helped me understand the importance of the gospel and taught me what a forever family can be and what TRUE happiness is. I love the life I am living.

On the Huish Farm

Tonight as we were in the process of putting the kids to bed we started to sing to the kids. We went through each of the boys personal songs and were pausing to think of a new song when MD started singing "ee-I-ee-I-OOHHH!!" So we started to sing "Old MacDonald" We went through dogs and then Michael started saying "Old MacDonald had a Mommy" so we went with that. When It got to the noise that I would make I paused waiting to see what would be filled. Michael immediately started to say "with an I love you here" but MD cut swiftly across him and sang
"MOOOO MOOOOO eeerrr!"
I busted up. Nice to know I am this family's cow :)

Birthday #2

MD's 2!! Wow this kid has gotten HUGE fast, but I am loving it. He has added so much to our family and enriched our lives in ways I never thought possible. For example this morning he tried to change his own diaper. When I woke up I found him sitting next to my bed half naked with his diaper and pants at his ankles and dirty wipes at his feet- Well if that doesn't tell me he is more then ready to be potty trained then I don't think anything is.

Anyway He turned two yesterday and we celebrated with a get together of cousins and had bubbles, dance music, a ball pit and sugar. MD had so much fun and I enjoyed watching my little giant stomp in his new boots and play with his new toys. I LOVE being a mother-It is the most rewarding, demanding and fullfilling job I have ever done. Michael Dunn you don't know how much you have added to my life and how much I love you. You are one of my greatest joys and I am so grateful that we have eternity to be friends.

The next pictures are pics of him growing up-He has led a very full life :) Most of these haven't been posted since I didn't start this blog until I was pregnant with Hyrum.

Diaper weather

I love the days where you can just strap a diaper on a kid and let him loose on the world!
